Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) is a very well-known medical institution, which provides absolutely free medical treatment for liver and kidney diseases, including tumors. Recently, it has become one of the top Liver transplantation centres because of the three successful liver transplants.
As organ transplantation facilities in this institute are provided free of cost, so huge number of their patients is from rural areas, where there are no or very little medical and health care facilities. The financial status of the patients at SIUT is very low. These patients are not able to afford modern ways of diagnostics, advanced treatment methods, and transplantation facilities offered by private sector of the country.
Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) was built to help the poor and give them high quality treatment free of cost. This institute is surely fulfilling its goals. Recently, three successful liver transplants were carried out in SUIT. All the recipients were kids with dysfunctional liver. They needed an urgent transplantation, which took place successfully because of the hard work and attention of highly qualified doctors. All the three kids are now in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and showing really good progress. Not only the recipients but the donors, who donated their organs are also perfectly fine.
The name of the kids are Mohammad Bilal, 7 years old; Ahsan Aslam, 10 years old and the third one is 5 years old, Ahsan Ali Haider. Liver donated to Mohammad Bilal was from his 40 years old father, Mohammad Iqbal; the liver transplanted to Ahsan Aslam was from his 35 years old mother, Kishwar Aslam and Ahsan Ali Haider got his transplant done by receiving part of her mother’s liver.

All of these patients are happy and satisfied with their treatment. They are receiving proper care under the traditional model of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), where all the treatment is free of cost. So, the whole surgical procedure and the postoperative care of patients did not upset the three families financially.
These successful surgeries were carried out by the highly qualified and experienced team of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) surgeons, along with a visiting team of surgeons from the Shiraz Organ Transplant Centre. This centre is one of the largest transplantation centres of its kind in the whole region. The head of the Shiraz Organ Transplant Centre, Dr Malek Al Husaini, led the Iranian team and is also an immediate past President of the Middle East Society of Organ Transplantation.
Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SUIT) provides state-of-the-art medical facilities. These facilities make sure the provision of free treatment and organ transplantation to all the patients. It means the patients, who have not any access to the costly medical insituitions can now receive specialized medical care free of cost, which is a really good news and a proud moment for all of us Pakistanis.
