Bloodshed, agony, pain, distress, misery; these are some of the words which, when put together are still not enough to describe the inconsolable desolation of Pakistani people. Having had gone through countless violent attacks and innumerable lives lost, the tolerance to endure more seems downright absurd.
The evening of 27th March 2016, brought with itself a chaotic spur to the spring-bearing park in Lahore. Right after the darkness prevailed; a heartless man exploded the bomb wound around his waist, spilling the blood of hundreds of innocent people around him. The consequences were disastrous, killing 74 people including 29 children while injuring roughly more than 300 people. Adding to the misery, most of the people that were there in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park were Christians cherishing the eve of Easter with their loved ones. But fate was not fortunate enough, for there laid a pre-planned suicide attack.
Considering the fact that, if the said Lahore blast was attempted to demoralize the minorities then it surely failed as “Only 14 of the dead were Christians, rest were Muslims.” Recent update has it that banned organization, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, took up the responsibility of Lahore blast.
Ethnic discrimination is what seems to be leading our masses. This, being highly prevalent and widespread in our society, is the main cause of chaos. While contrary to what Pakistan was meant to be, this is not what our Quaid aimed for Pakistan to be like, this is exactly the opposite of what he aspired it to be. Our great leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah knew then and made it clear thus;
You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed—that has nothing to do with the business of the state.
Do you know: The population of Christian community is 2 million out of total of 190 million in Pakistan, while this is the 3rd consecutive attack on them on their holy occasion. (Source: Pakistan Today)
There is a dire need of reality check that such attempts are contrary to the preaching of all religions. Every religion gives out the teachings of peace and love. We have got nothing to do with the faith of others as long as we are practicing our own religion and rightly so. Islam as wrongly perceived, never gives out the message of innocent blood spill, be it a Non-Muslim.
Relating terrorism with any religion is an immature approach. Terrorism has no religion, simply put, it is inhumane and ruthless. Then why would the Muslim majority be victims to such deadly attacks.
We stand firm with our Christian brothers as well as with other victims in their utter despondent times. All minorities are equal citizens of Pakistan. Terrorists are only making themselves trivial by glorifying the filthy acts of violence. Lahore blast is yet another coward attempt of these perpetrators but our military is doing everything in its power to curb out evil from society. There sure will come a time when Pakistan will be free from all such noxious attacks and flare of peace and amity will prevail in the country.
