A crucial decision of giving admissions to the foreign students in Indian Tech Universities is welcomed by the students in Pakistan. The decision was taken by the Human Resource Development (HRD) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in regard to boost International Academic Ranking of Indian Institutions across the world.

Starting from the next year, entry tests for some of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will going to be held in eight countries, that also include Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Dubai, to select students for undergrad and postgraduate courses. However, until now the entry tests that took place abroad were only held for Indian students that too for only 18 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

According to the Senior Human Resource Development official

This is the first time when we are opening our admissions for foreign students by holding tests abroad. Regardless, we will admit students from the JEE/GATE exams which will be conducted in 2017

IITs are the prestigious engineering institutions of India that have contributed immensely to revamp the Indian industry of Technology. Few of the famous Indians who have passed out of IITs are Sundar Pichai who is a CEO of Google, Amit Singhal who is working as a senior VP at Google. Vinod Khosla a Co-Founder of Sun Microsystems, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal who are the Co-Founders of Flipkart, a famous Indian e-commerce website.

Do you know: Indian Institute of technology (IITs) are known for their tough criteria in entry tests and exceptionally competent academic courses, 6 of the IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) were amongst the best 300 universities of the world. (Source: Techjuice)

The students will be chosen through an entry test that will be managed by the IITs with the assistance of Indian missions in these countries. However, to make sure there is no reduction in seats for Indians, seats offered to foreign students will be additional.

The fee structure for foreign students will also be higher compared to the fee Indians will have to pay. To encourage these foreign students, the best part is that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will be giving them student visa for the entire course rather than annual renewal.

Despite the fact that the test will be held in 2017, the preparations to reach out the students are planned to start in August 2016. Indian Information Technology Mumbai has already been working on the preparation of the necessary informational material to reach out to most of the people. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be the nodal on behalf of MEA for these tests.

Opening admissions in IITs for Pakistani students means better opportunities along with high-class education. However, we hope and pray things get better with India as we have faced a lot of issues regarding security of Pakistani officials in India, and Indo-Pak border tensions. The rise of conservative political parties in India is also a concern. Let’s hope for a better relationship with our neighboring country in the future.
